I take it you are in the food hospitality industry in some way and I don't blame you for being cynical. For one thing, you'd think people would be so aware of their allergies, etc., that they would live their life being cautious (up front). I think you answered your own question. The people you are referring to are like "ambulance chasers," looking for a way to get someone or some business in trouble by leveling a lawsuit, perhaps get employees potentially fired, or get a free meal. Not nice. I'm sure in life most people are ethical and good, and sometimes accidental things happen to them. Not all people are like the ones you are referring to, but the ones you mention probably walk into a restaurant with an agenda. These types of people would accuse a dry cleaners of ruining an outfit that they had previously screwed up themselves, or if their car was "bumped" or they "bumped" another car, claim whip lash when their necks are perfectly fine. And you know what---you sure have them pegged!

I have worked in enough restaurants to know that people will complain about anything they can. It's hard to wait on the public, because it seems they can be very rude and never be happy. You know when you wait on a table and everything is great and then you get a crappy tip? I hate that. Don't they know that the new tip amount is 15% at the least. I always tip at least 20% because servers deserve it.

About the allergies, if they really had an allergy, they would tell you while ordering. If they don't they are usually lying to try to get something for free. They probably ate their whole meal and aren't breaking out into hives, right? I hate mayo, so i'll tell the server right away, no mayo if its on something i ordered. It's a habit and i dont forget. Some people just go for the free desert or discount on their meal. Those are the people who shouldnt go out to eat. Just stay home if u want it for free!!!

If these are the sort of people you know, then they must be complete idiots. My Veggie friends mainly go to that type of restaurant. My grandson has a nut allergy, and who ever is with him when they go out for a meal, ALWAYS state this first and foremost.

Hmmm. I would assume that their food allergy or "preference" is not that crucial if they will wait to eat the entire meal before asking. People are ridiculous. Perhaps their allergy doesnt exist(and I am NOT saying that allergies exist, because they do!). It is not the restaurant staff's responsibility to know everyone's allergies. If it were me, I'd say"Thats important for me(or whoever is serving the dish) to know BEFORE you eat the whole thing.

Because they are attention seeker that want to be pittied...such idiots, as long as they can try to make you feel bad or guilty they enjoy their food. These are the same people who drive slow towards an changing traffic light and speed up just in time to get them self through in time and no one else...

no, i think sometimes they just forget...I do, I don't just assume stuff is made with peanuts or anything, but I DO always carry benedryl with me just in case, cause allergy or no allergy, the stuff I'm allergic to is the stuff I love the best!

It's just a matter of how concerned you are with your allergies, a coworker of mine ALWAYS asks before she orders.

They probably wanna sue the *** off the restaurant and earn themselves a tidy little number. The whole world is driven by greed!
