P0141 & P0136 sounds like your DOWNSTREAM oxygen sensor has malfunctioned. In other words, the one that is on BANK #1, AFTER the catalytic converter. You have FOUR in total. Bank #1 upstream & downstream, Bank #2 upstream & downstream. The real name for it is a catalyst monitor, since that's all its job is. Your UPSTREAM O2 sensors, are what's responsible for setting the fuel trims (how much fuel is delivered to the engine). Bank #1 on your vehicle is the bank that services cylinder numbers 1,2, & 3. That would be the bank that is on the firewall side, NOT the radiator side. The sensor in question is THAT bank, but the one AFTER the catalytic converter. It will be a BLUE coloured connector, not the GREEN coloured ones (those are the UPSTREAM). You will need an O2 sensor socket, or a 7/8" wrench if you can fit it in there. The connector will be VERY tight to access. They are both by the steering rack and power steering lines, so be careful not to damage anything when you attempt to access it. Hope this helps. Good luck.

OK, theres an expert out there somewhere and I'm not him but check engine is almost always emissions related. If the oxy sensor is gunnys, the car would likely run rough and have power issues and eat gas. As for the first code, "OBD II..." this refers to the onboard diagnostic system. That it's coming up, "...testing not completed", suggests to me that the battery may have been dead or disconnected. When an OBD II equiped vehicle has the juice disconnected, it can take up to 100 miles of driving for all the systems to reset. By the way, in California at least, your car can be running clean but won't pass smog test if more than two of the systems checks fail (as they will if you haven't driven enough after battery disconnection).

I had the same codes come up, i have a 98 Taurus se as well. I changed the MAF, all 4 oxygen sensors, and the air pump. It will cost you about $900 to get it replaced. Good luck man. Taurus are sometimes a *****.

Both "circuit malfunction" and "circuit high voltage" can be caused by bad wires to the sensors. You'll get a high voltage reading if a wire is broken and a circuit malfunction if it's shorted.

Get an electric screwdriver and drill until the light goes out. Drive that dog until it's dead and then get another one. He paid 900.00 for all 4, the car is barely worth 900, You could change a timimg belt for 900, :(
