it was okay...just another one of those books that we were forced to read in high school, though. I didn't think it was as amazing as English teachers made it out to be. However, it was one of the better books we read in school - more interesting, ya know?

Jokingly, someone once asked me: "Why must the most interesting books always be so boring?" It took me quite a while to complete 1984. While the concepts flow brilliantly, the writing style becomes a turn off, with many lengthy paragraphs and little dialogue. The sentence structure and vocabulary sometimes went over my head, and as a result, I found it challenging to read it for long periods of time. Regardless, this book opened my mind to an interesting political subject. At least attempt to read 1984. It's certainly worth the effort.

It's about the best book that has ever been written. George Orwell is better known for Animal Farm, but this is his best work. You will feel like you are living in the book. You have to love politics to understand and like this book.

It's a good book to read in high school and revisit 30 years later to get a different take on it.

It was better than the movie.
This is one of those generally "required" books for reading in high school" - like Catcher in the Rye, Scarlet Letter, etc.

Even though it is a fairly easy read, I still maintain it is one of the best novels I'v ever read. If you liked that, you'll probably like Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale."
