I need to get to Portalegre in portugal but ive been told the only airport i can fly into is Lisbon and then a 224km train journey to my destination, are there any nearer airports does anyone know ??

No... Unfortunately there's no other airports!
There's one in Oporto... (Porto) and another one in Faro... the others... are too small to commercial airplanes!
And then you will have the train journey... about 200 to 225 km...
Just ask if you need more details!

Just to tell You... on www.cp.pt there's no link to Portalegre...
I'm from Portugal... and Porto... isn't Portalegre!
Just take a look at Google Earth:

Portalegre is in Brazil not Portugal
