I was thinking of convincing my class to watch "LateNight w/ Conan O'Brien", cuz thats my favorite show...but it seems like a stupid topic. I wanna do something light-hearted, so, no speeches on how drinking and driving, or STDs are bad.

Ok...Although I love Conan, that is not a proper topic for school. How about using the hemp plant for all our energy needs? Hemp can and would replace all forign oil. Not to mention you can make millions of things with hemp. Hemp is not the same as marijuana, although they come from the same plant.
Marijuana contains THC which is what makes you high. Hemp does not contain THC.

Well, if you were to use that topic, you could explain why it is that it is your favorite show. You could explain what it is that you do to stay up that late and still get up early so that people saying that it is on too late get some good ideas on how they too could be convinced that watching it is "fun" or whatever word you use to describe it. I personally don't usually watch all of it but I do really like the band intro music all the brass with that loud high note at the end...and I like the michael jackson bits where they have a picture of him on a TV with someone elses moving lips. I prefer Jay Leno personally but would rate Conan as second even over Dave. Put some rating stats in there as an informative lession in your persuasion.

Give a speach on something you're really passionate about. That way your enthusiasm for the topic will come through and it'll be interesting. To give a really pursuasive speech, u have to believe it yourself.

Try convincing people to do something nice for someone they care about or something.

Maybe the topic of "Cellphone Usage and How It's Made Us All Forget Our Manners".
You could take a humorous approach to it, and still get the point across!

How about the importance of getting involved with your community. I know you wanted something light-hearted, but, since everyone is already living in a community, persuade them the importance of getting involved with their community to help make it better.
