That depends on your tastes. Try to get a catalog or drive over to an Ikea and take a look. I know their furniture is smaller than ours. I have seen livingrooms put together in Ikea that looked pretty cute. You would definitely not find anything like it in the U.S. What is really convenient is that at first someone checks all the furniture you want to buy going through the catalog with you. The second step is someone pushes a big cart around and picks up the pieces you are interested in. They are packed up and most of their merchandise can be put in your car and brought home. You will need to follow directions to put the items together. Ikea has people available to help you put them together, but that costs additional money and they only put some of the stuff together for you.

I love IKEA. I've been living in apartments for a long time and it is very inexpensive. However, some of the stuff is poor quality. I would recommend storage materials and things like kitchen rails, etc. They have some inexpensive living room furniture. I sat on it in the showroom and it felt like sitting on cardboard. They have some better quality furniture, but you will pay what you pay at other furniture stores. If you have an IKEA close to where you live, visit it and see what you think. If I had the money, I would rather go to a store that specializes in just furniture (Levin, etc)

I have a lot of Ikea stuff - mostly cause I have three kids and don't want to buy something expensive in case it gets damaged by them (they are all young). Their bookcases are brilliant and will only fall apart if not put together properly. Their dining chairs are also good value as are their soft furnishings such as curtains and cushions and bedding. Wouldn't buy a sofa though as they don't fit my very tall hubby and know some people that have had probs with them. Go have a look you might not get furniture but you might get all the trimmings

It can be. I've had good luck with some Ikea stuff that I bought, and one item I bought was complete junk.

If you look closely, you can tell the stuff that's well made. If you're not sure, take someone older along who has had more experience with buying furniture.

Ikea stuff may not be heirloom quality, but you can buy some good, sturdy furniture that's stylish. If you know what to look for.

I wanted to go to Ikea for ages, i finally got to go to one earlier this year and I was very dissapointed, i found the whole layout and instructions on how to buy very confusing, or maybe I am just thick! Anyway i couldnt wait to get out of there, too many people, but if there is something you really want from there you cant really go wrong for the price, but you do get what you pay for!

The few things that I have purchased from Ikea have gotten damaged after a while, or sometimes they are damaged right out of the package. Too bad because i really like what they sell.

One thing to keep in mind....as with everything you buy,,,"You get what you pay for" IKEA furniture is cheap, put- to- gether yourself stuff. Won't last long. Is made out of particle board. I wouldn't spend my hard earned money there.
