Most all of the CO2 comes about as waste in the process of respiration.

O2 and sugar (the sugars, starches, and even some proteins are simplified to a sugar called glucose) are involved in a chemical reaction in the cell (each and every one) they are the reactants. The products are energy (heat) so we can maintain 98.6 degrees, water, and carbon dioxide.
