yeah I notice that too, or they make the english person a cockney

Same reason American sitcoms portray fathers and husbands as incompetent boobs. The Political Correct Thought Police see this as acceptable.

Or they think everyone in the UK speeks with an east London accent,I take that as an insult being a welshman and all.

when I was last out in the states while working on a summer camp, I was watching television with some of the amercian staff and "are you being served?" was on. and they thought it was a brand new show coming from "England"..I just chuckled to myself knowing the programe is over thirty years old.

Because thats how we used to portray ourselves in old black and white films. Its just stuck with us.

Stereotyping...it's just always been that way...apparently we are all morbily obese, rude, lazy, and stupid...which certainly isn't true of us but there's really nothing we can do to get people to think otherwise eh?

it's a stereotype just like we portray the french as eating frogs legs. the italians as sex pests etc- remember allo allo?
