no actually....democrats more often have paid professionals working for them, campaigning for them to get votes...while republicans more often have grass roots activists who volunteer their time and information willfully to their neighbor....which is how it spreads better and more efficiently.

I don't think that is true everywhere. Although I live in a red state, there is an overwhelming majority of democrats trying to get out the vote, but I have seen Republicans rallying for their cause as well. I don't know what the difference is. I guess Dems know they need to try harder. But I think the problem is the Dems run nastier ads as well and maybe they are trying to look like they are more approachable by trying to talk to people. I hadn't decided on my governer's race vote yet, and I went to listen to a debate with an open mind, and at EVERY SINGLE question, the Republican answered the question at hand, and when it was the Dem's turn, all shedid was cut down the Republican's answer and mudsling and name call, and it was really a turn off. maybe people for her case are doing her dirty work trying to let people know what her platform is, because she obviously couldn't do anything but spew hate about the other candidate. ridiculous

This year at various events I've met everyone running for office with the exception of one of the state senate candidates who is not getting out and pressing the flesh which is why his candidacy is in trouble... and he is an incumbent.

This fall I have been asked to sign a number of petitions to get public questions on the ballots by Republicans. But that could be because the state house and state legislature are all democrats and they will get any legislation they want without it needing a public referendum.

I think its just your state.

I went to a Republican Rally with my college aged niece a few weeks ago. I have no idea when these things take place but she gets the information through her college "young Republicans" group. They happen. It was at a park though and had speeches, it wasn't just some guy with a clip board.

Two days ago a Republican candidate knocked on my door. Last year I had a Democrat. I do live in a conservative state, but the Republican was still pulling for my committment. I guess where I live they all get out and try to spread their message and show their community they are involved. I'm grateful for that.

Honestly, I'm from the south but I have noticed the same thing you've described. I guess Conservatives feel that their issues and platform is strong enough not to have to talk to people who haven't made their minds up yet.
