Firstly, I support Barack Obama wholeheartedly.
I think that at this point, America is mainly suffering from a horrible international image, and a Texan cowboy who stumbles over his speech - regardless of his politics - is not really helping that image. I'm currently traveling around Europe and the grief I get for being American is getting to be intolerable. I think on a cultural level, like the one I am experiencing, and on a broader political level, the rest of the world is getting tired of our ignorance to foreign affairs and our political omnipresence.
What Barack Obama could do for us - besides trying to get us the hell out of Iraq - is approve our image. I think it is time for a minority president. Also, regarding his age, I don't think I'm the only one tired of stubborn and biased old white men running the country.
I understand that one of the biggest reasons people think he would make a bad president is his inexperience. He has only served one term as a Senator - though he has been productive (i.e. his work on Immigration, increasing aid for post secondary education, and showing interest foreign relations). Because of his inexperience, and his young age, 45, many people, including Democrats, would vote against him - especially if a Moderate Republican like John McCain ran. I think it would be a horrible move for the Democratic party to elect him in the primaries (if he does eventually decide to run) and he knows it. But if he does get a positive response from Democrats across the board, I think he would be a great president - the kind of drastic change that our quickly declining nation needs.

For starters, it's Barack Obama. Not Obama Barack. Secondly, the best thing to happen for Republicans would be for him to run right now...he'd get slammed. He has no experience and is being given a hard push by the Libtards as their new "golden boy" for some reason...the public realizes it, too, and reactions are mixed, even in his own party. They may be looking ahead to 2012 perhaps. But he has nowhere near enough support to run now with any expectation of success. So I hope they run him...he'll lose.

To let us know the American people are fed up with politics as usual. The same reason the Jimmy Carter was elected in the 1970's - not because of his credentials but because he wasn't a member of the political top dogs.

I don't think anyone said he should, but there was a really good article in our paper today about him running and it said he would be like a breath of fresh air because he is not yet contaminated, by the big boys in Washington.
I would sure listen to what his programs would be if he ran I like him and I think he is a really smart man.

he shouldn`t. in the state that obama is from people with disabilities are denyed adult public education. when he was asked about this illeagal activity he had the asker manhandled and ejected from the room. obama is a political stooge. who resolved not to run for president and then changed his mind after appearing on oprah. if that is all it takes to change his mind he must not have much of a mind or know what he really wants to do. shades of kerry, maybe tommorrow he will want to be a fireman. or maybe a cowboy

Obama is a second term Senator with limited experience and other than being a personable individual, he has no qualifications to be president of the U.S.

He won't.
It is more likely that the first woman and first black presidents will be Republicans. There are more Democrats that will vote for someone because they are a woman or black than Republicans that would cross over.
Don't underestimate the power of racism in American politics. I have a number of relatives who would not vote for a black person under any circumstances. It is much more prevalent than anyone would like to admit.
