There is no "safe" when you're doing something illegal. The only way to get movies is through a peer to peer system like bearshare (http://www.bearshare.com) or limewire (http://www.limewire.com), and they're not kosher with the motion picture association of america.
These kinds of programs are so heavily used, the chances of your being singled out to crack down on are very slim, but some ISP's automatically detect such activity and will shake their finger at you for it. You probably won't end up in jail, but you might have your internet disconnected until you call your ISP and explain that someone must have been piggybacking off of your connection, because YOU certainly haven't been downloading any movies...
(That actually happened to me. I've never downloaded movies, but someone was stealing my internet connection and using BitTorrent to download new movies. My ISP (COX) shut off my internet twice for it. Finally, I got around to putting a password on my router...)

Why? Don't you think the artists, producers and all the extra's deserver to get Paid? Every time someone downloads a piece of art, music, painting, etc. that is copywritten, they are breaking the law. Plus if you like the movie so good, you should pay those who made it.

The best way to download music is to use a bittorrent client. Azureus is one of the most popular clients right now. It can be downloaded at http://azureus.sourceforge.net/
Then all you need to do is search for what you want (artist/album/movie) at a popular bittorrent site (listed below). I like btjunkie.org, but you can use any. Then when you find what you want, you download the small torrent file. Double-click the torrent file and it will open in your bittorrent client and begin downloading.
Yes, I know about limewire, it is not as useful to me since I download entire albums or discographies. Limewire is good, but only allows you to download single songs/videos.

Downloading movies for free is illegal, so its never safe. Better stop thinking about it and buy them instead

Thats illegal. Movies are copywritten and what you are asking for is considered stealing. If you want to download movies you need to go to a site that you pay a membership fee or a per movie download fee. any other site is illegal.
