As MAD Magazine pointed out on its cover for the March issue, this was the first "upside-up" year—i.e., one that looked the same upside down—since 1881, and the last until 6009.

You can look at it upside down and it still read 1961! It sort of happened in 2002, but it wont happen again until 6009, a wee while!

If you read the number upside down it will still say 1961.

The year looks the same upside-down.

The "won't happen again for over 4000 years" part is not totally right:
2002, 2112, 2222, 2552, 2692, 2962, 5005, 5115, 5555, 5695, 5965 will all look the same upside-down in digital.

1961 can be read upside down, that wont happen until the year 6009.

if you reverse the date 1961 its the same both ways.

the yr will be the same when it's flipped upside down!! It will happen again in the yr 6009!
