What about pineapple sunrise? Check out this dress

It is a yellow dress with a pink overlay which turns it kind of an orangish color.

I think yellows & golds are so pretty for prom, and not that many people wore them to my prom. Most people wore pink, blue, silver & black.

Also, I think you can wear any color to the prom - it's the syle of the dress that will set you apart from other people. I attached a source to a dress I think is gorgeous! Look at the back of it!

Popular colors: black, white, red, pink, and blue (any shade.)

To stand out, try a purple or green. Since you didn't list your own coloring, I can't make suggestions as to what will flatter you the best for specific shades. But you might want to think about a deeper shade, like a jewel tone, in one of the colors. They look more sophisticated than pastels.
Shades of purple to try: wine, amethyst, violet, eggplant, plum.
Shades of green to try: emerald, forest, kelly, jade.

No, no no, everyone is going to wear pink and all of the basic colors. Be different, try black (in order to pull bacl off the dress has to be really cute), midnight blue w/ sparkles, dark purple, a really cute green (no one is going to wear green)

how about kelly green. not lime green, that's too loud, or emerald green, 'cause that's too traditional, but a nice medium/kelly green. I think that would look great!
It might be helpful for you to provide more details about your appearance--skin color, hair color, eye color--because the color you wear depends on all these things, too, you know, what will look good on you.
