i work for the march of dimes and in order to do that, we had to learn about their stand on stem cell research, abortion, etc....
i personally am for abortion but only in some cases, such as rape, or the mother could die, or even the baby unless the pregnancy is terminated
well so in order to do stem cell research, u have to have aborted babies, which i think is disgusting and wrong. i also believe that the use of stem cell research is wrong, and i dont think that the use of it should ever be legal in the us.
am i just too sheltered? or do other ppl share the same opinion?

Like abortion you have cases for abortion that you say "it's okay." It is the same thing with Stem cell research.
First all though it is unpleasant to think about, no stem cell that is from a fetus was ever actually going to be a child. Most are created in a lab, and the ones from abortion (which they only uses very early term fetus) where not aborted for the research purposes they were aborted because the mother did not want them (some cases are rape, mother could die so on) if you want go yell at the mother more power to you, but the stem cell research is not the reason the fetus is aborted.
And I think you do live a little sheltered life. It's okay, I have like you have mixed feeling about abortion because it is kind of the taking of innocent life, but stem research could save a lot more, kind of a good developing from a bad. If you knew one person, just one person who you loved and cared about whose life could maybe be improved due to stem cell research you'd view it differently.

Also, there are literally tens of thousands of frozen embryos in cryogenic labs all over the country that were created for couples. Every time couples go the "test tube baby" route, better known as Invetro Fertilization, 10, 20, or more embryos are created for that couple alone, because there isn't a 100% success rate for any embryo to get attached to the womb. They try, and if one fails, they try again.
What exactly do you think happens with the frozen embryos left over when the couple has had the babies they want and want no more? They are tossed out. Why wouldn't we do something usefull with them instead?
You do NOT have to use aborted babies to do this, you meerly have to concede that not wasting anything is the better route.

Most of the stem cells are taken from umbilical cords or grown in the lab.Some are taken from aborted fetus.
Believing that is wrong is your personal choice.
I have a loved one that could benefit from stem cell research and possibly give her a better and longer life.I am all for stem cell research.That is my personal choice.

wait until you meet someone who's dying of parkinson's disease. if abortion is legal anyway, why would we not use the resources at hand? i understand not believing in abortion, but it exists. isn't it better that those embryos go to the purpose of keeping people alive, instead of just being thrown away?
