Nemo was actually the name of the main character in several animated movies which I watched growing up. Also, Captain Nemo is a fictional character featured in Jules Verne's novels Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870) and The Mysterious Island (1874). "Nemo" is also Latin for "no-one", and in this case was used as a literary device because Nemo in this movie had the bad fin and no one thought he could do anything. So, I wouldn't look too far into it.

I try not to read too deep into small things like that or my head will explode. I'm sure it was completely harmless. Nemo is just a cute name and I call my son Nemo all the time.

Disney has all kinds of subliminal messages within their movies and they do it for fun. I took a class on it but truthfull evil things like the omen I do not think they believe in. I think partially its just easier for kids to pronouce of all ages. My boyfiends two year old know when he wants to watch Nemo and he will pronounce it perfectly. Anything sexual though then yes they probably did it on purpose, its only for the adults that pay attention to detail to catch though, so dont worry, your kids will be okay!

There are many examples of Disney doing odd things in their animated movies. In the Lion King there is a scene where there is star dust in the sky. Simba is hearing his father as he looks up at the stars. If you freeze it on your VCR, it spells "sex."
In the Little Mermaid there is palace sticking up from the ocean floor. It is made to appear as a phallic. Take a look and see for yourselves.

That's Kind of weird, but sounds like something Disney might have done for the adults not the kids. Kids wouldn't notice it but adults, and teens do and it just makes the movie interesting trying to find all the strange stuff Disney puts in its movies. :)

Nemo is the name of a famous fictional sea captain and I am thinking THAT is why they used it. Movie that takes place in the sea. Get it?

I'm not sure what dialect it is, but there's a South American dialect where "nemo" means star . . . Disney also could have chosen it because it's an out-of-the-ordinary name . . .
