no, It isn't dumb. If you would like to go, then go Trick-or-Treating. It's all up to you.
You should go as long as you have the urge to. And when you don't, then you can stop. It doesn't really matter how old you are, because most of us loose the joy of Trick-or-Treating by the middle or end of our teens, anyway.
I think it's a little late to give costume ideas (cutting it fine, are we not) and I'm not too sure what you may have to hand at the moment, but how about a pirate? wear black pants and a white shirt and a vest. Tie a bandana around your brow, a scarf (for a sash) around your waist, clip on an earing, and say "Arrrrr!" a lot. and you can make a sword out of cardbord and tin foil and black electrical tape (or black marker) (for the handle)

Yes, I think you are too old to go Trick or Treating - go to a Halloween party instead, or have your own party with some buddies. It is for the little kids not teen-agers~ sorry! It really is irritating though when you go to answer the door bell and the kid standing there is bigger than you and they are pushing the little kids out of the way.

It's normal at 12 or 13 to start to feel that one is too old for trick-or-treating. I stopped at 13--and resumed again at 19!
As you get older, you might want to limit your trick-or-treating to the stores, depending on the customs of your neighborhood.
As for a costume, check out the photos and ideas here, and see if any of them turn you on:

No my daughter is 13 and she is going trick or treating with her friends. Why not go as Herman Munster paint your face green and wear a suit and stick some plastic bolts to your temples. Good Luck

If you think it is lame, don't go. Personally, I don't think it is a problem.
But, I do hate older kids who don't have a costume, or an obviously thrown together costume, who trick-or-treat. If you are going to go, put in some effort.

I think it is time to give up the trick or treating. You can still dress up and give out candy to the little kids or go to a party or something instead.
