Prolly not illegal...

When Dragon was in high school, the theater people did Annie Get Your Gun. The girl who was gonna play Annie went to the shooting range to get a feel for holding a gun (hmm... that sounds kinda dirty) and shot herself in the foot! She had to do the show in a cast! Dragon still thinks it pretty funny. Sad but funny.

If it is an accident, people do not get charged unless it was because of some sort of gross negligence. That is why when a hunter gets shot accidentally, no one is charged. Accidents happen. This holds true for other things as well. Say there is a bolt loose in my steering column. I am doing 65, the speed limit, and the bolt comes out. I lose control, and hit another car. Now, my insurance will pay for the damages, but I am not charged because this was something that doesn't really constitute negligence. Had I been doing 85 in the 65 zone, then yes, I can be criminally charged. sometimes accidents happen. That is why they are called accidents.

In many states and differing circumstances yes.Within city limits anywhere:Illegal discharge of a firearm. If your in the armed forces it's destruction of government property(yes that's true) or just a self inflicted wound. Many counties and states it's self mutilation though many jurisdictions do nothing. Finally it could be considered attempted suicide though it's doubtful that any prosecutor would pursue such a venue unless it was a slam dunk.
If anyone did try to convict you then say you tried to stop the assailant while fleeing (on) by foot.Or you were trying to kill your athletes foot.Boom!Tough actin Tinactin(in the form of a .357 magnum). That's why you only shot one.The other foot is more intellectual.
Under any circumstance it just ain't a good idea.I was hit by a ricochet by a .22caliber rifle. That really hurt.It hit me in the chest near the shoulder but only broke the skin.

I think in Cali it is only illegal if you shoot the right. No law yet on the left.

Rum shots!

Yes it is illegal. You can be charged with assault even if you don't press charges against yourself. Not to mention discharging a firearm inside the city limits.

If that isn't enough you can die.

You could be charged with reckless discharge of a gun but the actual injury to your foot would not be illegal. But when they found out it was done on purpose, you would be put on a psych hold and subjected to mental health tests.
