I've heard that out of all the religious communities, muslims are the poorest ( even more than dalits). I've also heard that theres a lot of discrimination against muslims in India? Is this true? Is it hard to be a muslim in India nowadays?

Infact it is totally worng. Muslim community is more inclined towards art and business due to less people going for education. Thats why it look odd from distance but look at bollywood starts. they are mostly muslims. Look at president of India, he is muslim. The only difference is that women are more free in other communities than muslims in general. In fact there is reservations in every area for muslims and they get heavy discounts in Haz. So its totally wrong to say being muslim is difficult in India.Muslim population is growing in India percentage wise also. I lived with muslim friend in Gujarat for 2 yrs and found them perfectly normal. I have so many muslim friends and I strongly reject the idea that being muslim in india is bad. Infact India is only non muslim country who has maximum number of muslims.

It is totally wrong. Muslims in India live comfortably. There are many successful Muslim statesmen, businessmen and celebrities. The very fact that India so far had three Presidents and more than hundred Governors, dozens of bollywood heroes and heroine and other media celebrities and a cricket captain speaks volumes for the fairness with which they are treated. About being poor or rich there can not be generalization about Muslims. There are poor Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians. It is not due to any pattern or discrimination. It is just an individual situation or reality as it happens in any other part of the world. There are vested interests and few biased elements in the Media who give rise to the kind of speculations you mentioned. Good that you asked and now you know the reality. Greetings and Good Luck.

India has always been a secular and democratic republic with tolerance for all religions. Lately, communal forces have been threatening the secular fabric of our country. This has been evident from the demotion of the babri masjid in 1993 by extremists and also by the masacre of hundreds of muslims during the gujurat riots. Being a christian and a member of the minority community myself, I do feel insecure sometimes when I see such ghastly events like the brutual murder of a christian missionary graham staines and his two sons and raping of nuns taking place which threaten the unity and integrity of our country that was founded by our forefathers like gandhi. All I can do is hope and pray that my countrymen will continue to believe and practice the peacful ways that our forefathers have shown us. Gandhigiri be prevailed
