I am a very nutrition-conscious parent with an organic kitchen. My daughter is 2 and has never had any artificial food. She thinks fruit is dessert. I would not advise any chocolate for a baby or even a toddler, due to the high sugar and caffeine content. Especially for a baby under 1...caffeine increases a baby's SIDS risk.

4 months old thats way too early!! At 6 months it would be ok to give the baby a taste of some pudding or something like that I wouldnt give it oreos or anything that requres chewing up..
I waited til my daughter was 11 months old, she was walking and potty traied and just moving along with everything else at that point in her life so I let her try chocolate.

Well I have a picture of me as a four month old sucking a bar of dairy milk chocolate, but I think that oreos are a bit too much for a baby.
Give chocolate pudding or something similar, BUT NOT ICE CREAM! I did that, and it put my daughter in hospital as she was terribly allergic.

I would definitely not recommend chocolate or even cookies that early. As a mother, you are always wanting your child to try new things, but sweets are something that can wait. The first taste of sweet stuff my children had was at their first birthday party and after that it is very closely monitored. Sweet stuff like chocolate or anything with a lot of sugar is not something you want your child to become attached to at such a young age. There are much suitable snacks out there for young children. If your child has teeth give him a sugar free animal cracker instead.

Well you don't want to give them oreos at 4 months old--that's crazy! But it's always fine to give them a "taste" of something. I would never give them any solid chocolate though. Maybe dip your finger in some melted chocolate and let them taste it.

It should be okay at 6 months. Just get some chocolate pudding and put some on your fingertip and then put it in the baby's mouth. You don't want to give the baby anything that he can choke on or he can't chew himself.

It's safe, but it's stupid...
Why would somebody do that? They need nutrition, not junk. There's penty of junk when they're kids - no need to confuse them.
