not usually because things are going into a dormant state which prevents the normal process for root growth to take place. But stranger things have happened. I have a friend who took them pulled all the leaves off and soaked them in water for two weeks then put them in sand. She kept them watered well. They seemed to be dead but roots grew and new plant growth some time latter. Good luck.

You could try.

Another thought is hardwood cutting that you take and put into a cool environment until March and try rooting them then.

If that doesn't work, then you can take soft wood cuttings in mid summer and grow them on.

this is usually done in spring or summer when the sun is hot. My aunt told me to get a tender new shoot and put it halfway down in the dirt. then put a 2 liter bottle, with the top cut off, over the shoot. water copiously and see if it stays green or goes brown. it's a lovely thing when it stays green. I have done it three times so far.
