wouldn't 81-81 be 500 since there are 162 games in baseball so 82-80 is one game above 500
.

if the record of 81 out of a possible 162 games is 0.500
and the record for 82-80 is 0.506

Would not the difference be how much above .500 you are?

In this case 0.006 above 500. You then multiply that by the number of games 0.006 * 162 and you get 1 game.

The way to count games over .500 is to count the number of wins that you have when compared to losses. If you finish 82-80, you are two games over .500. If you finish 83-79 you are 4 games over .500.

To count games under, count the number of losses and compare to the number of wins; if you are 80-82 you are two games under .500

It would be 2 games above 500.You subtract your win total from your loss total, and you get how many games your are above or below 500. 82-80 is 2 so it is 2 games above 500.

That would be 2 over. There are a few ways to be one game over .500 at the end of the year. If it is a strike year and the season ends early. If you have a rainout that is not made up because it makes no diffence in the standings, or if you tie records with another .500 team and have to add an additional game to determine who gets in the playoffs.

in order to correctly figure this out you may need your superduper math adder. you will need to find out why 500 is a magic number, and then find out how to got to be a magic number. did your sister put a spell on you. did your brother beat you up as a baby. then go to the library and find a book that can help you to learn how to add. i suggest dr suess green eggs and ham. you will earn that 2+2=5 and then george orwell will take you away in a tight flimsy uniform for overhaul of your mental defect system.
