I went to scope (snoop) one out yesterday and its going to be a new home in an old neighborhood and is going to look out of place, but more importantly, I am curious if the owners of the home actually own the home that is the result of the makeover or is it property of ABC? I guess I'm concerned with how these destitute families pay taxes and insurance on these homes and what keeps them from selling them and running off with the money? I've checked with ABC and there are no available answers. Just thought maybe someone with some "connections" might read this. In any event, have a wonderful day!!

You are right the taxes would rise significantly. I've often wonderd how they would pay the energy bills for some of the stuff they put in those houses. I always assumed the familys would adjust things to their needs, but the taxes could prove to be a big problem.

All I know is that it is awfully hard to build a house of good quality in several days. It simply can't be done. Most homes take several months to build. In fact it takes a number of days for a foundation to dry and harden. How can they pour a fondation and proceed to put a house on it while the foundation is still setting?? I have a feeling that they do a lot of stuff before hand that you don't see. If they are literally building a home from the foundation up like I have seen in a couple episodes I fear that the quatlity of these homes is suspect. It is like the old adage "Putting Lipstick on a Pig." I think that is basically what they do. Plus, look at the neighborhoods some of these houses are in. How much could you sell it for in a neighborhood like that? I also heard that ABC makes you sign a contract saying that you can't sell the home for so many years. I don't know. I like the premise of the show but, I just think it is a little hokey. Ok, have a good day.

I don't know anyone. But I have wondered the same thing myself. I have also wondered how they can build a house in seven days when it takes that long for the foundation to cure. I know that I have seen, on some shows that they pay the utities for them. Many of them also get the mortgages paid off for them, so they don't have a house payment. If they are smart they will take that money and use it to pay for Taxes and Insurance.

I wish they would do a house for someone I know because I would LOVE to run off with Ty.
