I'm ready to pop any day now! What I'm most worried about is what my body is going to look like afterwards... I know diet and exercise will help a huge deal, but some of my friends have a layer of extra flabby skin and it's gross! Is this going to happen to me? Do any other moms have this extra skin? Is there a way to get rid of it?

So, you're worried that your body won't be perfect again.
I hate to tell you, but nothing about you will be perfect again, and it is so liberating!
Most of your clothes will end up with some sort of stain. Snot, vomit & leaky diapers are a few of the causes.
Your body may or may not go back to your pre baby shape. your hips may remain wider. Your belly may not be flat again.
Oh, well. You have just sacrificed your vanity for the joy and sorrow that goes along with motherhood.
If given the choice of having my size 6 body back or being a mom, I'll take motherhood hands down.
I work out 4 times a week & watch what I eat. There is no amount of exercise that will put me back in my pre mom clothes.
Enjoy the body you have now. Treat it well and stop sweating the small stuff.

If you have gained a significant amount of weight ..you will probably get that strechcy skin. However if you only gained about 40 -50 pounds or so you shouldn't have a problem. Also consider nursing instead of formula feeding you will burn an extra 500 calories a day and your stomach goes down much faster this way. So you body will get back to normal alot quicker. I nursed both of my boys and gained 45 pounds with each and I was back wearing my bikini in 3 months with a flat stomach no flabby skin... Good Luck with the new baby!!!!

I seriously looked about 5 months pregnant for at LEAST a week or two after I had my daughter 10 weeks ago. It was awful, I went to the mall to have her picture taken when she was 4 days old and I wouldn't let my husband walk off with her because I was afraid people didn't SEE the baby they would think I was pregnant!!

I am now down to 5 lbs. over my pre-pregnancy weight but I have a slight pooch that is really persistant. This is my second child and with the first it was pretty much the same situation. It took me about a full year or so before I got my tummy down to where I was comfortable with it.

It's really hard to tighten that pooch back up and it will take a HUGE deal effort unless you are extremely lucky. I was a size 0 before my first child, a year later I was a 1/2 or a 3 depending on the pants and now I am a 6 and just hoping to get down to a 4!!! Good luck to you!!

Oh, and BTW I only gained 28 lbs with my first pregnancy and 30 with this one.

You never know, I was worried about that too. I gained 55lbs during pregnancy, lost 35 within 3 days of giving birth, and now 5 months later I'm back down to my weight before pregnancy, the only difference is a little belly, but it's not flabby, just looks like I ate a big meal. And I don't work out at all.

I guess that would depend on how elastic your skin is and how much weight you gained. Some people don't have a problem with their skin going back to normal. I however am still trying to lose some weight, and I have a feeling I'm going to have extra skin because I gained so much during pregnancy.

Well...I want to be honest with you because it was a lot different than I expected. My baby will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. I was 123lbs pre pregnancy...I gained 28 lbs and I expected to have weight to lose but not loose skin...let me tell you. It is upsetting because I am hearing its almost impossible to lose but when you hold your baby it really doesn't matter. It may bother you a little bit at first but the feeling from looking at your baby.....amazing. Just wait and find out what it looks like. Take care and good luck!

Honey, no-one can say if it will happen to you or not. I had a baby with out having this extra skin, maybe you will be lucky, maybe you won't.
Stop worrying about things you have no control over, you will have plenty of real problems to worry about soon!

Good luck for the birth...when those contractions hit, remember to breathe!

Its a very individual thing...you may end up with Jelly Belly, you may escape it. Only time will tell.
Good luck with the birth and safe delivery x

it will look differently for a while. if you are planning to breastfeed, this will help you to lose your baby weight faster. you will eventually lose the weight anyway.
