The US is a weird country where we find all kinds of people, from really nice to weird and perverted criminals. We keep hearing on the news of weird stories like a kid raping his own mom or a guy shooting his family. What kind of a sick world are we living in? I'm sure this stuff happens outside of the US too, but I know one thing for sure, that in the US, this happens much more frequently, which draws the question: Why? what is it about this country that makes the people do things like that? is it the gvt's lack of consideration? is it the culture where families don't provide the necessary love that others cultures do? is it the selfish/lonely way that people lead their lives ? or is it the boredom and perfectness of society? what i mean by the last is that in a great country where most human needs are meet, the person gets bored for the lack of problems and tries to create some to give his life a meaning.
I'm not what is the answer and i hope you can guide me through this.

I have had amazingly well written and niceanswers so far. but I would also like to add the fact that that some people mentioned that crimes happen i nthe US because of poverty and people wanting to reach higher levels. I disagree with this since other countries in the world are worse off and you don't hear of such mental illnesses and sick crimes. you do of course hear of people fighting and killing each other, but rarely do you hear of people doing insane things like the ones done in the US. again, i'm not saying they only happen in the Us, but i'm saying that they happen more frequently here than in any other country.

I'm very glad that you are addressing this issue, because it has been on my mind a lot as well. I have also spent a great amount of time wondering where all the perversion in this country comes from. It's easy to say that it comes from lack of belief or because there is no 'spiritual path', but surely the answer can't be this simple. I personally believe that the reason for this broad spectrum of abnormal behavior in this country stems from unhappy homes and failed marriages. Many people here are not happy with their family life. Also, everyone is always thinking of themselves and how profit can be made. This doesn't stop people from killing others who might stand in the way of reaching this goal. Yes, society definitely demands all-around perfection. I don't think the gov't has much to do with the way people in the US are leading their lives. I guess it has more to do with wanting something so bad that people are willing to step over dead bodies to get it.
People are selfish. They think, "I only have one shot at life, so I will do everything to be happy." Everyone is out for their own good. This generally isn't so bad, but since more and more people are becoming like this, it has become a problem.
I can imagine that a lot of people just aren't happy because they feel that they can't achieve the image that society demands in order to be seen as a 'worthy' person. Women should be thin, children should excel in school, being poor is seen as failure in life, real men make lots of money, etc. There are so many expectancies placed on everyone, it just makes it even harder to become a well-respected and worthy person.
I believe that every human being wants to be loved by someone, and some people just don't have anyone who loves them. So they commit acts of desperation in order to draw attention to themselves. It's a sad phenomenon that more and more marriages are falling apart. This can have profound effects on the children in that family. People tend to feel worthless and unloved in this country because they feel that they just can never meet the expectations of what is seen as a 'good human being'.
There are still so many unanswered questions about the society in the US. I also spent a great deal of time thinking about these things, but am still confused by many aspects.
I am a foreigner myself, but in Europe it is never as extreme as it is here in the US. Of course, there are cases where a child kills its own parents, but it is definitely not the norm. In the US, I read about things like that all the time in the papers. The USA is a very multiethnic country, which makes it hard to form a united community with the same beliefs. In a country where the majority of people shares a similar belief, there is a sense of unity and belonging. And in each community, there are rules and norms that are willingly followed by the citizens to ensure the greater good of everyone else. Perhaps because the USA is such a large and multiethnic country, it makes it hard to create this sense of unity. Right now, it feels as if everyone is doing their own thing and doesn't care much about adhering by the rules. While 20 years ago only a small part of people were rebelling against the rules, now it seems as if most people just don't want to abide by society's regulations. Everyone has their own ideals of what llife should be like, which creates conflict and crime. On one side, I support the idea of not living a life of restraint, but on the other, if everyone just does as they like, there will never be an end to all this crazy s**t.

I agree, there are many different kinds of people from all over here in the US. I'm not so sure that these kinds of things happen less frequently in other countries...perhaps they just don't make the news.
If I had to guess I'd say that people do those kinds of things because they are deviant for one and know that they system is broken and they won't do much time, if they get caught, the first time around. All the things you mention could be the answer to your question....each thing you see on the news would have to be looked at on its own...case by case if you will.
Perhaps the kid who raped his mom was abused by her or another woman in authority and to take back power...he raped. As we all know (I hope) rape is about power, not sex.
The guy who shot his family could have been suffering from an untreated mental illness...that doesn't make it right...but you wanted an answer.
Our criminal justice system is a revolving door for many criminals...round and round they go...in and out of prison...perhaps if the system were less broken and people actually served their WHOLE sentence or the death penalty was enforced swiftly this wouldn't be the case.

that's the elephant interior the room. the climate international is slightly wacky. that's in all probability worldwide warming appropriate.issues are particularly beginning to get out of wack. Small tornados look occuring in places they many times do no longer international. we are seeing greater severe air transformations such with the aid of fact the only that delivered the airplane down off Brazil. today there became yet another close call over Malaysia with an Australian airplane. I anticipate that flying will by no potential be as relaxing or secure interior the destiny if the worldwide climate gets greater unpredictable. anyhow, If we would desire to stay the way we do now with each and all the technologies and automobiles and so on, we would desire to shrink the human inhabitants. If we had much less infants, shall we 0.5 the worldwide inhabitants which might extensively reign in pollution and all the different human appropriate factors that are affecting the atmosphere.

Americans are not "bored for the lack of problems" its the opposite people with mental issues don't get the help they need early enough because healthcare is so expensive in this county. plus 23 out of every 1000 Americans are in jail most of them for petty victimless crimes when they go to jail or prison they get more angry and are set out in the world where getting a job is hard as hell when you have a record plunging them back into the life style that got them there in the first place. Also Americans are over worked under paid the average American works a 46.2 hour week and is not required to take any vacation in France the average work week is 40.7 and required by law 5 weeks of vacation a year Brittan Germany and Italy have similar laws. 50% of American make $30,000 or less a year that isn't far off from the poverty line... we have it so much better that other countries but we lack what other industrialized nations have; free healthcare more vacation time less people in jail prison.
