I also believe it to be just another example of how careless and indifferent people are. They are so concerned with getting their ideas down, they don't think about making sure that it is communicated clearly. And they are so in a hurry to publish their ideas on the web, they can't take the time to hit the spell check.

So they did not accomplish conveying their ideas clearly, but they did get them out quickly. That describes the current culture, now doesn't it?

Well it is a spelling box - and not something that checks grammar. As a result they're there and their can still all be used in the wrong places :)

Also, if you use the checker on a long section of text, you have to keep scrolling back up to find what it is trying to correct - it doesn't keep the highlighted section of text on display.

Lastly, I get bored saying clicking "ignore" when it tries to correct English into American. ColoUR GrEy, ~ised = ~iZed. If it recogniSed proper English as well as "American English" I might use it more myself.

Of course some folks would point out that starting a sentence with "because" is worthy of a slap too, as is a lack of capitalisation and punctuation at the tail end of your post. ;)

I think it's laziness. However, it must be noted that it is a very bizarre and untrustworthy spellchecker with more complex words. I have had some laughs at some things it has tried to correct of mine.
