I was a Best Buy over the weekend, and learned that a new IPod Shuffle was coming out. My wife would like one for Christmas. Should I buy the current version on the cheap from Amazon.com, or wait for the newest version, which will probably be more expensive, around $100 +. How much is the newest version?

Best answer tip: If you know the features of the new version, and about what it would cost, I might favor your response.

Dont get a shuffle get a nano video or another mp3 with a screen. it has all the same features as the old one but it has a clip and its way smaller and it is $79.00 for 1GB and that holds 240 songs
1.62 x 1.07 x 0.41 inches. I hope this helps. Oh yeah I would wait until the new one comes out. but the best thing to do would be to get a refurbished nano from the apple store for $99.00 and that holds 500 songs it also has a screen and holds pictures thats a way better deal. I just saw an ipod shuffle (old) for 30 bucks on apple.com its refurbished and holds 120 songs. click on te site

The new Ipod shuffle will be a lot smaller and cost $80 when it comes out for 1 GB of memory. It will be super small (even compared to it's older model) you can see it here http://store.apple.com plus it still has all the functionality of the first one (minus a built in USB port it now comes with a dock)

Unless you have your heart set on an Ipod, I'd seriously consider other MP3 players that have more features at a better price, like FM radios, recording , etc and are compatible with monthly subscription services like Yahoo music, Rhapsody, and others that allow you to fill your player with all the tunes you want as long long as you keep up your subscription. Songs bought on Itunes play only on Ipods and nowhere else. Songs bought on other sites like Rhapsody, Walmart, Napster etc play on almost all players except Ipods, and burn to CD easier. On top of that, Itunes is a resource hog when used on Windows PC's, slowing it down a lot.
Check out the Creative and Sandisk players-in my opinion they offer better value.
