Who or what do you think it would take to bring about some form of "Peace" in that area. Can you envision peace there? Could it happen in your lifetime?

It just happens that in our lifetime, the Middle East was the most significant area of turmoil in the world, but that may not have been true in all times. Conflict is a characteristic of humanity (and many living creatures too). What is happening now in the Middle East is a conflict between Western ideology (based on democracy and capitalism) and Muslim beliefs (based on religion and tradition). The seeds of conflict are also planted in other parts of the world. Take a look at political changes in South America, continued instability in Africa, uncontrolled development in East Asia, consolidation of diverse nations in Europe, reemergence of Russian power, etc. The West (as the major civilization nowadays), headed by the US, would have a say in each of these (and other) situations. Some of them would be settled by force, like Afghanistan and Iraq, and others may take a peaceful path. It depends on how Western decision-makers would tackle these problems. So don't bother yourself. Peace in the Middle East is not the end of all wars. My advice is: Don't concentrate your attention to one part of the world. There are humans suffering all around the world. Suffering may be closer to you than you think. You do what you have to do, and then you go to your grave. So don't waste your time on something you cannot change, like US policy in the Middle East, but work on what you can. Just do what is necessary to feel that you left this life with an achievement.

Years try centuries, the Crusades etc... Doubtful that you will have any lasting peace there. Probably due to the extreme heat. Who knows?

This is the result of colonialisation. It will not end until other countries stop interferring in the region
