Personally, I really like the sound of my heels on a hard suface when I walk. And yes, it does draw attention.
But I hate when I'm... say taking a test... and the teacher is prowling up and down the aisles in those pointy judgemental shoes... it breaks my concentration.
I also wonder why that is, good question.
