I recently purchased an Xbox 360 premium. I got a good deal on it since my girlfriend paid for part of it as an early christmas present as well as I traded in my old PS2. I bought the 360 on Friday. I played it a handful of times throughout the weekend. On sunday I booted it up to play and it wouldnt work. It stated there was some sort of error and to contact customer service. Upon calling them and doing a few simple tests, he told me that there was a hardware problem and to return it to the store. This happened in under two days of owning the system. I was able to return the system for a new one, but am a bit concerned. Has anyone else had something similar to this happen? Is this common? Should I contact Microsoft and demand them issue some sort of extended warrenty due to my troubles? Any input is appreciated...thanks!

My first 360 had issues. It started taking forever to load screens. I bought it shortly after the first batch. They had problems with the first batch but supposedly fixed the issue. It didn't happen right away, so when I needed a replacement I had to send it to the manufacturer instead of dealing with the store. Then wait a couple weeks for them to send me a new one.
Not sure what the deal is with the Microsoft system, as I have never had any problems with any other system, and I have them all since NES.

The reason for this is because it was manufactured in December or November. It has been concluded that any Xbox 360 console manufactured before January is bound to have problems, and will be replaced for free.

That is probably why you had this "good bargain", because the person that traded it knew it was gonna mess up.

Anyway, since they replaced it with a brand new one, I am 95% sure it will not mess up again.
