Most common cause for this is a bad vent tube coming from the tank. the air that is in the tank is not letting the fuel to enter as fast as the pump is pumping the fuel in. check the vent tube to see if it is clogged. You may also have a collapsed filler tube as well check that. If your still having problems try seeing if the tank will fill on the first lock setting on the pump. (Some pumps have 3 notches on them Other just have 1.) it may take a little longer to fill the tank but at least you will not have to baby sit it. Let me know if this helps

well these answers are good, my suggestion is, go to a different gas station. these pumps today pump gas so fast that the older tank and there inlets dont adapt well, pulling the fuel nozzle out should help or checking the vent tube will also help. my '85 chevy would fight me at certain gas stations and others it was fine and my 98 jeep has problems at certian gas stations as well, this is why i like slow gas pumps :)

You`ll have to take a real close look at the filler tube all the way to the tank. Also w/ a flashlight, peek down the inside and check for obstruction/s. You are I presume putting the nozzle in correctly?

It might not be the truck. Try pulling the nozzle out just a bit. Some vehicles have a cut off if the nozzle is too far in.
