I have never recovered from "Jaws". To this day, if I go to the beach, I always make sure that there are other people out ahead of me in the water, figuring that they will "get it" first.
I stopped watching horror/scary movies a long time ago, probably after "The Exorcist". I get too involved in the story line and just don't like feeling that scared. The ones that scared me the most were NOT the ones with a lot of blood and gore, but the ones that seemed like they COULD happen, with "normal" people and "normal" circumstances; more thrillers than chillers.
These days, my 15-year-old daughter watches movies that I can't even stand to see the commercials for! She DID tell me that she was scared sh*tless by "Saw", though.

The scariest movie for me is Children of the Corn. Not because it is the scariest movie out there. But becuase this was the first horror flik i saw at about the age of 4. My older brother was babysitting me and made me watch it with him. I still get creeped out by corn fields.
Oh yeah, for all of you that thought the Grudge or the Ring was scary. Are you shitting me? Both of those were so dumb why couldn't be scary. Definetly need to stick with older films for a good scare.

Scariest movie ever? That's hard to call. The Ring, The Grudge, American Haunting, Exorcist...the list could go on and on.

I would have to say Hostel. There are alot of other movies that scared me but that is the worst. The Hills Have Eyes (Unrated), The Descent, A Nightmare on Elm Street series, Friday the 13th series, Halloween series, Hellraiser, and any scary movie made scares me the first time I see it but I am used to most of them now.

The Hills Have Eyes (the new one) wasn't really scarey, but it gave me nightmares. Guess it was the birth defects scenes at the beginning, and the fact that I was pregnant at the time...
Blair Witch's ending always creeps me out too...
