Because shooting deaths are less common in Edmonton...probably in most of Canada, than in New York.
I live near Toronto an in 2005 there were only 52 gun related deaths out of 78 total murders. That's an outrage here, a drop in the bucket elsewhere.

Of course . The crime rate has been going down in New York for several years now though. It's no longer at the top of the list for dangerous cities.

hmm..well lets look at the circumstances involved in the deaths..maybe the media made things seem larger than reality...but doesnt the media do that with everything?? News isn't good news unless it sells

New York is plagued with crime and murder and I guess it happens so often it is not news anymore. Just everyday life.

84,000 people die in Kashmiri,pakistan oct 2005 earthquake. and 3.5 million are still homeless and without..did you know that?
1400 die in new orleans hurricane 2005 and its still headline news..
go figure......................
