Don't worry, this is something I want to do. I'm 22 and have been with him since I was 17.

It can be painful. The first time is not very enjoyable. There will be some bleeding from breaking your hymen, that is what hurts. Some women hurt worse than others. Depends on how thick your hymen is. Make sure you ask him to go slow and not to be rough at all!

Well, once its gone, you cannot get it back, lol. Okay, no religious stuff. IF your hymen is still intact (these days they are often broken long before your first sex act by sports and exercise), it will likely hurt a little when it tears and as you continue the sex act. You can expect a little bleeding. You may experience a little soreness for a few days or you may not have any at all. Rarely, the hymen will not tear easily or the opening in it is too small and it must be opened by your doctor.
Other than that, there is not much to it. Make sure that its something you really think about, that you use protection (or insist that he does, and remember, birth control is not necessarily protection from STDs, use a condum), and that you are realistic about the experience (its not a fairy tale happily ever after thing for most people). Be sure you REALLY want to do it before you do it. You only get to do this ONCE in a lifetime.

My spouse and I dated almost 5 years to really get to know each other first before losing Our virginity to each other. It worked for us, and we are still together now for 19 years!! We respect each other, have excellent communication and great sex. This is just us personally.
Whatever works for you. Just make sure you are truly ready. Be on the pill, and even as your on the pill, every time you have sex, make sure He is wearing a condum, or else do not have sex with him, no matter how much you love him.
If he is small, there will be no pain, nor blood.
If he is of a normal size or large there is usually some blood(or sometimes lots), and there will be pain the first time only.
Just take good care of yourself. There is no real hurry when it comes to sex. Be comfortable with who you are, and always love and accept yourself !!
And choose to never worry about what others think of you. The best gift you can give to yourself is self-acceptance, and patience with yourself.

Use protection, use as much lube as you need, and go slow. It may or may not hurt, and you may or may not bleed. It probably won't live up to your expectations the first few times, but that comes with practice and intimacy (if you know how to give yourself and orgasm from masturbating, that will definitely help you teach your partner how to please you.)

Make sure that this is what YOU want and you are not being forced. This is something that is YOURS and makes YOU who YOU are. I hope your first time is very special and you are not disappointed. Good luck and remember to wear protection and take care of yourself. :O)
