I don't know if I should talk about them to my friends and relatives. Sometimes they ask me how my life is, and I'm not sure if I should tell them my life at home is hell... how would you know when to say stuff and when not to?

It's nothing bad that needs authorities intervention, but I just have a really crappy home life. I have a father who yells his head off and I can't talk back to him because he'll try to hit me (he never does though, 'cause my mom stops him). He is so irrational though, and it's getting on my nerves and slowly but surely wearing me down emotionally, so much that at times I just want to die.

If the person asking you this question is in a position to help you, then you should tell what you feel is enough to get the help you need. Some people would be able to help more than others and you should be careful whom you tell these personal things. Some really don't want to know the details, but in general are just saying "Hi" when they say "How you doing?" This would include your "circle of friends" who have no authority to take action in your behalf. You shouldn't discuss it with these types or you will be the next subject of the gossip mill and things could get worse if it gets back to your family that you said anything to others about it. If it really is all that bad, you should get help from a professional person like a teacher, counselor, coach or other person you can trust to look out for your well being. If it is extreme at home, you can go to law enforcement personnel who can investigate to see if any laws have been broken and you can be helped by the legal system.

For me it depends on the friendship and family member. If I trust them enough to keep it between us etc.....I don't like to gossip nor be any part of someone else gossip. Somethings I could careless who knows. You tell what you feel comfortable telling someone.

say stuff that you think ok for everybody to know, like happy and normal things that happens in every household. do not say somthing that will get back on you... what i mean is, if it'll ruin your family's name, then talk to it to entrusted FRIENDS only coz they are less likely affected and more fair in their views

You don't need to talk to everyone about your problems, just pick a few select people to vent to.
