Please appreciate that this is a serious question and I don't know what I can do to stop the wretched perpetrators - it also means I get loads of 'returned' emails that think it's mail from me. I don't een know what sort of spam they are sending - it could be porn for all I know, perish the thought! Any serious help gratefully received.

You can send a letter to someone with a fake address on it, and the same can be done in the digital world - what can be done about that? Nothing, and the same goes for email.

What you can do, though, is get a digital certificate to use with your mail. It won't stop people being able to fake your address, but it will mean that emails sent by you will be have some amount of authenticity, and also cannot be tampered with along the way (without being detected). Have a look at Thawte's email certificates.

Sending from your site is one problem,

using your ID as a return address is another. This is likely what is happening.

Consider changing you email address and canceling the old one. Also talk to your service provider about it.

if you host you're own site, clean your server right out, if you don't approach whoever holds the domain. Hopefully if they are a tier 1 provider, they should be able to assist.

Once your machine is cleaned, and if the SP is not tier 1, change passwords- preferably from a definately secure machine and see what happens.

Best of luck mate
