Was it all a dream? Did they die in the end or are they in a different dimension? I don't get it.

i understood after my friends cousin told me cause i guess they died when they crashed..cause when the dad went there and when there were already there it was to different places..so no not the 1st time i didn't no..but now i do i hope this answers ur question..?

I couldn't understand it either. I had to watch it a few time, but i believe they died when they crashed into Silent Hill and were dead at the end of the movie. Im not sure why the surroundings of when they showed the dad was different from the surroundings of the mom and child, but i think it has to do with the place Silent Hill, once you enter...and die-its like your afterlife. When they showed the mother and child-it was foggy and cloudy, like Silent Hill......i dont know for sure-i couldn't get it, so i just made up an answer to satisfy me. I hope that helps

Yes they died. The movie really doesn't depict the games well. There is I think 4 Silent Hill games now. The movie kind of mixed up the first 3. Everything that happened was because of the evil in the town and what those people did all those years ago. They all died and there is no happy ending is a wick summary of the movie. The game is basically the same. These people did evil things, Silent Hill becomes their own hell. It reflects their fears and the evil things they did in their lives. You reap what you sow.

What I understood was that they were in a different dimension. At the end the mom took the mean gril and they could not see their husband or dad because they were not in the same dimension.

This is according to my friend, The SH game freak:
If you played any of the games, the movie makes a lot more sence. They are dead. Once you enter Silent Hill, that's it.

I didn't get it either... but it was very disturbing and seemed to have a lot of religious symbolism if I remember right?
But then I spent most of the movie cringing against my boyfriend!

ya wot I got frome it is thay got stuck in a difrent demenchion.
But wer reworded for thair sevice to the demon by being alowed to leave the town and retern home wile still in limbo.
the devell ceaps the soles but thay get a nice cumfertibel hell.

when she was driving up the hill and the cop was chasing her they crashed and died.
took me most of the movie to figure that at.
but it was a very stupid movie
