Based on your experience with the show, am I in error avoiding the show? I have this nagging sense that it's more of a melodrama than actually focused on showing off the various powers of the characters. I suppose that makes good television, but sometimes I just want to see energy blasts and butt kicking, not characters with problems.

My husband is the biggest action and comic book fan there is and he loves that show. I love it too because it is a big puzzle to figure out. There is suprisingly alot of action and it's pretty graphic. But, it's intelligent and funny at the same time. I think you should give it a try. It's more like Lost then Desperate Housewives.

You know I've watched the show a couple of times now. I watched the 1st episode and although you're correct, it seems as if they're split between what they really want to do with the show, either be a melodrama or all action. I watched the 1st episode telling myself ah, I won't even watch the entire program or I won't watch it again, but I must admit, they leave just enough mystery for you to want to watch it again to see how the next episode unfolds. Though I do admit, the transporter guy from Tokyo (I think), that character is getting to be a little boring to me.

Seeing as it is only the 1st season it is going to take possibly to the 2nd season to really get good. I love it already and hope it keeps going. Shows start off good sometimes and then don't return like Surface...I think they jumped the shark a little too soon with showing the creatures coming ashore so soon...

Give Hero's a try, if you haven't seen them up to know you can catch up on them on Sci-fi Channel.

I like the dramatic aspect of the show, reminds me a lot of "Unbreakable" (the movie with Bruce Willis). Great take on how a superhero might react to discovering their powers for the first time.

I think it's a great show, my favorite new show this season, but I like the human drama element, plus the mystery of Syler, etc. I understand about not wanting to expend time & energy on something hoping it will eventually become compelling....I've given up on 'Lost'.

You don't want a television show; you want an action movie. "Heroes" is innovative, original and good drama. While you may enjoy just watching "energy blasts and butt kicking", there are many of us who enjoy the back storyline - I want to know HOW they evolved, and WHY they evolved.

I see it as an alternate story version of Lost. There are connections that get revealed a few crumbs at a time that get's the viewer interested in what happens next.

i felt the same way! but for the most part, the fisrt couple of episodes build up to every one knowing how to use there powers! now that most know what and how to use there powers it should be more interesting.
