why were Europeans so interested in Africa? what resorces/ what did Scientists find/ what other kind of info did they learn?

Along with fine materials (gold, diamonds, and other precious stones and minerals), food and other agricultural products, the land was of value to settlers, especially in countries where arable land was at a premium. The territory itself was scene as advantageous and valuable. as kingdoms were judged by the size of the territory they held.

It also afforded them the opportunity to secure trade routes, and establish a forward presence in the region.

One big reason that the Europeans (notably British) exploited Africa was for the triangular trade system. They would get slaves from Africa and then trade them to either the West Indies or the colonies.
