Wearing scrubs isnt a "have to" but they are comfortable. Then you dont have to worry about ruining your "every day clothes". One thing to think about though is people tend to relate scrubs to a doctor or nurse so the person you are caring for may feel more comfortable and trusting with you in scrubs. If they are elderly, most older people dont want just some "young" lady telling them what to do, but if they look at you as someone like a "nurse" they are usually more willing to cooperate and listen to your advice an so forth.

Just wear your usual clothes.

You'd only have to wear scrubs if you were working at a care job where your responsibilities were more health-care oriented.

Why wear scrubs..? The only reason is if you are afraid to ruin your street clothes or just like to wear scrubs.
