How do you get involved in substitute teaching? I am going to school to be a teacher and I though that it would give me some good experience if I could do some substitute teaching. Thanks!

Apply for a position as a substitute teacher in your school district. You can do this at the county office. I think you just need to have a high school diploma. You'll probably have to go through some training, but I don't think it's extensive or anything. You can specify the schools you'd like to sub in, so it can be easy to make connections at certain schools. That's a great way to get your foot in the door once you become certified to teach. At my school, we have certain subs that we call first because we know we can count on them to do the job well. We take notice of who's great and who's that weird person you mark out on your list with a dark black magic marker. :)

Every state has different requirements to be a substitute teacher. In California, you must have a Bachelor's degree and pass the CBEST exam.

Each state/school district has their own guidelines. Check with the school districts you are interested in. Most of them have all the information you would need on their website.

Just check with the different school districts. They usually have different requirements as far as testing and credentialing. For your sake, I hope you don't live in California.
