There certainly seems to be a threaten air. Most people I know don't go out at night. Most seem to have a debilitating condition. There's a lot of fear.
I remember when I was growing up, things were still ok. Murders were a scandal, you could leave your door open, that sort of thing. Only the TV news was bad all the time. Then, in the late 80's, after the miner's strike had died down, the cold war ended, and it seemed to be all good news for a change. But now there seems to be a new "enemy" for the western powers. However, now the badness is not just on the TV, but it's everywhere. Ask anyone, and they'll say things have definitely been getting worse in one way or another. I've asked many people, and I've generally always got are least a partially negative reply.

Yes. Suddenly all those things that I've been raving about are news stories, but nightmare news. Our family structures, our abuse of the planet, and there it all is, just like we said it woud be 20 years ago. I really wish I'd been proven wrong. But we really need to take reality as it is, and provide solutions from this point, rather than harp on about how we told 'em so.

I'm going to have to work harder, and so is everyone else who has an inkling about what is going on. We've made some progress, but it is going to have to be multiplied by several thousands if we are to continue as a human race.

There is hope. My son's generation is taking it fairly seriously, and there are people who are finally waking up to the intelligent warnings. At least the UK government along with a number of others is paying lip service to the idea of a sustainable life style.

If you feel that it is all a bit beyond you, don't let that stop you from questioning and answering, from insisting that something be done, and SHARPISH! If you feel you don't know enough to make a judgement, FIND OUT, and insist that your government do something about it.

I think the fast forward feeling is partly due to media, because we can watch a disaster as it happens, look for ourselves at the horrendous results of that magic combination of governmental self-interest and the results thereof.

The only limits are what you can live with. The final answer doesn't have to be the only one.

Yes. I think there is a great melancholy cloud hanging over everyone. The world has always had wars and suffering, but through the media, especially televison and internet our knowledge of such things and the way we relate to them is vastly different to how we did for most of the 20th C and earlier. Television can numb the mind and stop people thinking. Useful isn't it? Meanwhile my life has got sweeter and more precious as I've entered my 40s, and the tragedy as I see it is not how diverse we all are (that is mere cultural difference - and to be celebrated) but how alike. Everywhere mothers weep for their children; everywhere men seek to stake their claim.

Yes.

I think that since 9/11 the World has become a more dangerous place to live in.

I personally would not like to live any many of the big cities around the world which might be targeted by terrorists and I don't just mean the likes of Al-quida. It could be anybody that holds a grudge against a particular Government.

I feel it's all rather played out and predictable- nothing seems new anymore. Money is worthless- if you are a millionaire now it's good but not as great as years ago.

the u.k is shrinking in the sense of land with all the new building and overcrowding. This is not a immigration gripe- just an observation. Look at the cars on the road- all week everyday.

The old way of a more natural life is going which is inevitable because of computers and technology.

There is nothing permanent except change. The world has always
been in a state of change. Change of climate,of governments and
of countries. The human mind is also subject to change. What I
determined to be true in the past, I no longer accept as truth. What
was black or white now has shades of Grey.My town is different
than the one I grew up in. I can't keep up with the changes. I'm
not saying that it wrong- It is just hard to get used it.

Yes.
My mother suggested I go back to uni and train to be an occupational therapist. I'd never thought about that until a few weeks ago and tomorrow I'm going to do a work-shadowing day up at my local hospital, and if I like it, hopefully I'll get a place on a course in September. Funny how life turns out.

In a sense, yes. I think young people are worse-violence, etc. I think most of it is that now we are just more informed, such as with the internet. People 60 years ago were more focused on surviving, "Will my crops do well this year?" They didn't think much about what was going in South Africa or China. They wanted to make sure food got on the table. Nowadays, people are more global. There were always wars going on, terrorism, the like. But, I do think it probably is worse.

Most certainly, yes.
climates have changed worldwide.
Tides have risen.
People are too busy with their own lives to bother about anyone else. Everyone rushing to and from work. Nobody stopping for a chat or to even bid you time of day.
And then there are computers and mobile phones !!!!
It is a whole rat race.

Yes, it has changed, and I am glad that you asked. Noticed that but I thought it was just my perception that has changed, yet talking to other people noticed that it has changed for them too. A lot and from all points of view.
