Can you recommend other writers I may like? Private eye, murder mystery, or old LA style stories are my favorites.

Try Dashiell Hammett, especially the Maltese Falcon. Also, while not set in Boston Robert B. Parker's Spenser novels.

If you like Chandler than give these writers a try Agatha Christie, Mickey Spillane and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle they are all excellent writers and touch on much of the same materials. Spies, private eyes and good old fashioned mysteries!

Rex Stout - his Nero Wolfe novels. Great reads! And there was a TV series on A&E that was EXCELLENT. It is available on DVD (rental - still VERY expensive to purchase).
