It is considered "gay" to have sex with someone of the same gender. It is pretty much unversally accepted that simply having a sexual preference for those of the same gender is considered "gay."
That's pretty much what "gay" is. Not the clothes someone wears. Not the way someone speaks. Not what kind of films, books, music or food a person enjoys. Not the way someone wears their hair, or even if someone removes hair from parts of the body that normally grow hair.
World class swimmers routinely shave their head, legs, arms, pits and chest. Male models and many actors shave their exposed body parts because they photograph better. As far as priveates, many heterosexual couples find that they prefer a shaved look and texture. Some of these couples make the act of shaving part of their erotic routine.
Is this gay?
If a woman chose NOT to shave her arms, pits and legs, does this mean they are "gay?" Or does this mean they don't shave?
I have a gay sister-in-law, and she DOES shave her legs.
I look around and don't see where a person's hair preferences indicate sexual preference. I'm afraid your parents are merely products of the last century. These mis and preconceptions, like your parents, will pass. Forgive them and move on with your life.

Shaving legs, no privates: If you have a valid reason to shave your legs, such as cross training for a triathalon (run, bike, swim), are a runner, a swimmer, or a body builder, ok. Gay? No.
Shaving legs AND privates/girlfriend: If you have a steady girlfriend and she wants the "smooth" look on the legs, or "all over" for a turnon, fetish, fun, whatever, ok. Gay? No. (But be careful that you aren't being weak, caving, and doing what she wants while subjugating what you think is ok. )
Shaving Legs AND privates/totally self-focused: If you are shaving your legs for the "appearance" of a smooth body , have a turnon, fetish, or are doing it for fun, whatever, and are way focused on that; or are doing it because other boys are doing it in school, and they want to look like "boys;" and you are not interested in girls or what they think --Gay ? You may have a few tendencies there. The boys that are doing this, they are subconsciously rejecting their masculinity. Your parents have a right to be concerned then.
If you want to "trim" back your genital hair and then totally shave your legs, that might be a good compromise with the folks.
By all means, keep the door of communication open to your parents. For example, if you have pictures of athletes that you are emulating , by all means show them to your parents. (No pictures of shaved penises, however, they will probably freak. Yikers !)
If I have provided the information that you need, please rate this answer. Thank you !

That depends on the reasons you use for shaving your legs. When I used to maintain a regular running/jogging and bike riding schedule I used Neet & Nair on my legs to keep them smooth. Shaving my legs helped with aerodynamics when bike riding, and also kept my legs from itching when I was running. It definitely had nothing to do with my sexual identification. There is nothing to suggest that shaving your legs makes you Gay.
Shaving your genital area is also nothing to worry about, as long as you are careful and don't cut something off in the process. I have been shaving the nether region for a few years now, and as long as I keep a regular schedule of shaving every 3 to 4 days, everything stays smooth, and without any pimples or irritations.
If you consider the reasons you have for wanting to shave your legs, then you also have to figure out if it's worth having someone else suggesting you're gay for doing it.
Best of Luck!

You told your parents you shaved your privates? WOW.
Legs-somewhat weird for a guy to do, unless you are on the swim team. Leg hair on a guy is a sign of sexual maturity, so to cut it off seems strange to other guys, especially if they saw you with it previously. Some light-haired guys don't have much leg hair, so no one would notice, but if you are black-haired and hairy, it would seem strange. No reason to be considered gay, just strange. Gay guys don't necessarily shave their legs--in fact I don't know any gay guys that do. Privates--well, that is usually more of a private issue.
For teens, to shave your privates seems to be like shaving off your badge of honor--you reach puberty and express it with a good bush-to whack that off would make you look like a 10 year old.

i shaved my legs when i took a scuba diving class....it was during the summer and quite frankly, nobody said anything when my bare legs were spotted... MOre and more men are shving from head to toes and it's their buisiness. But then again, depending on what your entourage is, shaving your legs might be perceived as "gay"... for exemple if you live in Redneck country, I doubt the guys at the gas station will find it "nice"... On the other had, if you live in a large urban city, there are probably thousands of guys who have done the same.

The two are mutually exclusive. Gay is porking another guy, having another guy pork you. Thinking about proking another guy or another guy porking you is almost gay. Shaving your legs could be for swimming, body building or modeling. Why did oyu shave your legs? Shaving your privates is good if you wanna be a porn star. Will you be porking guys or gals in your porn career? BTW: I heard it gets real itchy down there after you shave, let us all know, okay?

No. Being gay means you're attracted to the same sex, which does not correlate with your shaving preferences. I will say it looks odd when I guy shaves his legs (or especially arms), but will say that shaving one's pubic region can feel or look good.

um...how do your parents know you shaved your privates?...and unless your a swimmer or body builder don't shave your legs if your a guy... gay or not, and do what you want with your privates that part is up to you. Definately trim it though if you don't shave it.

Not at all. It's a matter of hygiene & keeping cooler & feeling better, that's all. I like to shave my balls cause they sweat less & feel cooler. I shave my armpits, to reduce odor. Nothing else.
Anyone straight or gay can do this. it's cool.

Not necessarily. It would be necessary for certain activities and jobs. Swimming is one notable activity, bodybuilding another. Models, dancers, and other performers will also find it necessary to be clean shaven 'all over'.
Now, if a guy is doing it just because his boyfriend wants him to, now that's another story...
