Four years of college in any area/major. Then a year of graduate school to get a teaching credential. To teach elementary school you need a multiple subject credential, to teach secondary (middle or high school) you need a single subject credential.

Go to the admissions building at a university which graduates teachers, talk to them about it.
Go to your states department of elementary and secondary education website.
HOWEVER, make sure there is a need for teachers in your area.
I live in St. Louis and there are about 1000 applicants for every opening. They are starting to hire teachers who have a degree and license to teach for $10,000 a year teachers aide positions. They used to hire high school grads then went to college students with 60+ credits.

If you don't already have an undergraduate degree you will need a B.A. or B.S. in Education. It would be in Elementary Education or Middle School Education depending on the state. If you already have an undergraduate degree you can get a Masters in Education. There are 15 month programs for this.

You have to go to a 4 year university and get a degree...either in elementary education in which you're certified k-8 or secondary where you're certified 7-12 in a specific content area.

you hav to be a graduate wid minimum of 50 % n then have to posess a bachelor's degree in education to teach class 6 .
