in my bio class we've been covering reproduction, and i thought there was only two types(asexual and sexual), but i'm thinking the 3 are fertilization, vegatative, and parthenogeneis, help would be nice, thanks!

You may be talking about *cell* reproduction only. In that case, there are 3 distinct ways of reproduction: in bacteria, there is binary fission (that includes DNA replication, chromosome segregation, and cytokinesis).

Today, some scientists have speculated about the possibility of creating life non-reproductively in the laboratory. One group of scientists has succeeded in producing a simple virus from entirely non-living materials. The production of a truly living organism, such as a simple bacterium, with no ancestors would be a much more complex task, but may well be possible according to current understanding of biology.
