Doing Kam. AP Chem homework are we? Haha... I'm doing it too. I stupidly left my chem book in my locker, so I'm having trouble finding the answers. The remaining water molecule bonds to the sulfate ion via hydrogen bonding. The hydrogen atom in the water molecule bonds to the oxygen atom in the sulfate ion, leading to a hydrogen bond. Anyway, I just wanted to comment because I found it funny that I found someone else looking for help online as well.

To balance a half reaction, first make sure that the atom which is changing oxidation state is balanced. (Mn in this case, is already balanced). Add water molecules to either side to make the oxygen atoms balance. Then add protons to either side to make hydrogen balance. Finally add electrons to the appropriate side to make the charges balance. Then you'll have it...
