Every great nation in history has had its time of greatness, and all of those countries eventually fell from greatness. America will be no different - even Rome couldnt stay at the top forever.

We aren't. You see....this is precisely why we get ourselves into the situations we get into. Arrogance. What other nation (think Iran and the Embassy take-over) has a situation like that and the first thing out on the market are bumper stickers that say "The Ayatollah is an As*hola". Or better yet, after the WTC was destroyed an altered picture showed up that said "The design for the new WTC" and of course it looked as though someone was giving the finger. So you see....it's pure arrogance. The American public always screams "We'll kick your a*s" and then after three months grows tired of soldiers being killed and money being wasted on yet another "police action' that will never be solved.
This also breeds the scum who lambaste and spit on soldiers...saying "They shouldn't go and fight". Yeah..well...if you like the idea of being charged with mutiny and doing 20 years hard labor in Leavenworth, perhaps these folks should join the military and refuse to ship out.
So you see. We aren't the best at EVERYTHING. Except maybe being arrogant. But there are some things that we excel in compared to other nations. We also are the best in some pretty bad things too.

I'm an American and I can tell you we are not the best at everything!! Our Education System is like number 17 on the list and that is a shame b/c people actually move to our country to attend school.
I think you meant to ask why do people envy our country?; Well b/c we have the freedom to experience a lot of things other countries forbid and have a mind of our own.

arrogance will do you no good.
this is the kind of attitude that earns americans bad names around the world, the most hated country in the world, always stirring up trouble in the name of democracy then profiting from the troubles of others.

We would very much like to think that we are. For those who don't know, there is a much bigger world out there! One thing is for sure though, we are the best and always have been the best at industrialization!

We're not. We just have more money to throw at the problems and unearned egos the size of planets due to the fact that all our mamas told us we were wonderful and special and forgot to tell us that everyone else on the planet is EQUALLY wonderful and special. Sad but true... hey, I think that's going to be tomorrow's favourite song... where's my Metallica...

Best at corrupting the world with materialism and loose family values and morals? I'd say so.
