Definitely friends. By the time New Years comes around I've had enough of my family and need a drink.

When I was younger I used to spend it with friends but as you get older you spend it with family.

definitely friends. christmas is the time one is sort of obliged to spend time with family, even if it's dead boring. new year is recognised more of being a social celebration. It depends on your family situation however and what you feel right to do and happy to do.

Family. I faced the problem last year but managed to go with both. Mind it was only one day with friends.
