Their eggs are lying dormant in stagnant water somewhere waiting for the first sign of spring.

If it gets cold enough and the temp remains at or below freezing for a few days mosquitos will die. However, if the winter is warm they will hide anywhere there is standing water.

if we knew, then maybe we could kill them in the winter time. I'm not answering your question - just had never thought about it before and am curious too.

they are in stand water if you have water near by suck it up
