"If you asked me to" That song is so beautiful. The first time I heard it I assumed she was singing to or about a man. Then I read her book Don't Block the Blessings and found out she was singing the song for her sister. She went to visit her sister in the hospital, who had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Her sister asked her to go home and make her a sandwich ( I think that's what she wanted, I'll have to go check the book again), Patti was tired because she had just come from rehersal at the studio and felt that if she went home she was not coming back to the hospital to bring a sandwich. Sadly a day later, before Patti could get back to the hospital, her sister passed away. So she dedicates that song to her sister, because she feels that she really should have went ahead and took the food to her sister when she asked for it.

Lady Marmalade is one of my favorites but any song by Patti is good song. Long live the real Queen of Soul. I don't know who gave that title to Aretha Franklin.

On My Own with Michael McDonald. Talks about hope and starting again after adversity. Very powerful.

"New Attitude".
Aside from a good beat, it really is a positive song about doing for yourself
